PEPSI-COLA

It was 1891 and 31-year-old Caleb Bradham, the owner of a small pharmacy New Bern, North Carolina, was enjoying great success because he had discovered that by creating superior-tasting, thirst-quenching drinks, he could profit from the tendency of his customers to socialize at his soda fountain. Of all the unique beverages he created, the favorite of his customers was concocted of cola nut extract, vanilla and exotic oils.  They called it "Brad's Drink" but "Brad" was already calling it Pepsi-Cola.

The drink's popularity steadily grew, and on June 16, 1903 the United State Patent Office issued Bradham a registration for what would become one of the world's most famous trademarks: Pepsi-Cola. The first advertising slogan "Drink Pepsi-Cola, Delicious, Healthful, 5 Cents" was inscribed in the trademark.

Several advertising slogans would subsequently characterize Pepsi-Cola over the years; many are nationally acclaimed, a few made advertising history. With the debut of the Pepsi Generation in the 1960s, America's baby boom had a name, and Pepsi-Cola had one of its most enduring recognized ad campaigns of all time.  Today, Pepsi-Cola, the Choice of A New Generation, is an industry leader with more than three billion customers all over the world.

PEPSI-COLA, PEPSI, PEPSI GENERATION, and THE CHOICE OF A NEW GENERATION are trademarks of PepsiCo, Inc.  PEPSI-COLA is used with the permission of PepsiCo, Inc.
